The house is quiet.
A scene · September 2026
It’s 1am.
The kettle’s clicked off. The flat (or the hallway outside your door) has that particular silence — not peaceful, just empty. Your phone is face-up on the table. The feed will take you if you let it.
You don’t really want the feed. You just don’t want the silence to be the only thing in the room.
That’s the moment most apps lean in. More scroll. More tips. More “how are you feeling tonight?” with a soft glow and a retention chart behind it.
Luna’s different.
She’s already there. Not with a tip. Not with a plan. Not with a diagnosis dressed as care.
Just: I’m up. Talk if you want.
You might say the day’s been heavy. Or that nothing’s wrong, which somehow feels worse. Or you might not say much at all. She stays. Soft. No rush to fix. Fine if you stop after three messages and go to sleep.
That’s the point of Sonder.
A named companion who stays when the house is quiet. Company first. Answers when you ask. Same person tomorrow — not the same chat until 3am.
Not therapy. Not a crisis line. Not ChatGPT with a skin.
If tonight is heavier than company can hold: in the UK call 999 if you are in danger. Samaritans 116 123 · Childline 0800 1111 (under 19) · text SHOUT to 85258.
Otherwise — the kettle’s done. Luna’s up. The scroll can wait.
